General DNS & Domains Dyn Email Update Clients Dyn Developer

I setup DynDns updater, and it shows my correct IP (which is 174.16.107.223 currently). I see in the logs that it is updating my [free] domain with it. But I do a dns on the domain and i get "117.201.100.215". I log onto the site and I confirm the incorrect IP, I manually update it... (it also detects the right IP on the update page) and it stays for awhile, but later it changes back to that same wrong IP!! Please help?!

1 Answer:

That IP is in a block described as "IP Addresses for Multiplay network". Are you using any VPN software, playing online games or similar? The activity you describe would be explained by something that changes your default route, which those might.

Version 3 of the Windows update client allows you to pick the interfaces that will be used for IP updates, that may work. Alternatively if your router has a built in update client (that works) try disabling the software update client and enabling the client in the router.
