General DNS & Domains Dyn Email Update Clients Dyn Developer

I am trying to remove some spyware from a PC. to do this I need to download from a site that has Spyware in its title. My problem is that because I use dydndns it has decided to look after me by blocking access to the site by default. I have a defence plan but it is associated with a different hostname so I am stuck with this default nanny. Is there any way I can disable it and learn to walk myself? Regards Richard

1 Answer:

Did you check at Barracuda Central, what the related domain is categorized with? Can you post the related domain names here? You also can see this while clicking the detail link on the block page. There are only a very few categories blocked by default, unless you used another Internet Guide's users settings by chance.

I can see two options for you:

  • You need to configure and activate an additional defense plan associated with a hostname pointing to your current public IP address. There you can whitelist the domains in question, or can adapt the filtering/blocking categories accordingly.

  • Temporarily use a different DNS service other than the DynDNS Internet Guide, e.g. your ISP's DNS service. You may be able to do this by just unchecking "Use http://DynDNS.com Internet Guide on this PC" in the advanced settings of the DynDNS Update Client. You had to flush both, your browser cache and your local resolver cache (ipconfig/flushdns) too to make it work.
