When I try to log into my account at http://www.dyndns.com I get a warning that the SSL certificate has not been verified by a trusted 3rd party. I have logged in many times in the past with no problem. Suggestion? |
So import it into your store. There should be an option to do so, especially in IE. This option is probably called "install this certificate" or so. This worked. I don't see how to do that in chrome, but Safari offered the option. Required a browser restart (I think). Thanks to everyone who helped troubleshoot and solve this with me.

Can anyone explain why the certificate stopped working (trying to understand it - it is solved).

Can anyone explain why the certificate stopped working (trying to understand it - it is solved). I just tested from a Windows XP computer with SP2 installed and Internet Explorer (6). No problems, no complaints about the certificate. If I were to guess, perhaps some software installation program has made unfortunate changes to the list of root CAs. If not, then perhaps your computer hasn't had certain Windows updates installed. |

I haven't had any problems with the SSL certificate used on http://dyndns.com. It's a certificate issued by GeoTrust, which as far as I know is trusted by all major browsers. What browser and what OS are you using? Chrome (it seems to update itself every few days) and XP home edition. I did restart the computer.

I just restarted the router - no change. I also tried in Internet Explorer, same issue.

Try using Firefox 3.6. It could be that the SSL certificates in XP are too old. Sadly I no longer have an XP system to test this with. I am firing up safari - I have chrome, IE7 and Safari installed. I log in every month to keep my account active - so do you think this change could have happened in the last 30 days? Can I ignore the bad certificate and log in?

Safari at least lets me see the certificate - everything looks good except it gives this error at the GeoTrust Global CA level: "This CA Root certificate is not trusted because it is not in the Trusted Root Certification Authorities store." This is beyond my pay grade (by which I mean my knowledge) - does that shed any light on what is going on?
