I need to connect my PC to an AVtech 760 DVR through a wired LAN in order to back up an event captured on my CCTV (this is a domestic setting, not business). I have installed the Video Server software on the PC, and can see the DV in the list of attached devices in the router. I have set the router up to allocate the same IP to the DVR (it is a DHCP router). I can ping the DVR using a run command and it responds but the Video server software does not connect with the DVR, although it finds it correctly using the Video Server software search function. I have tried Wavereader and get s imilar result. I assumed I would be able to connect to the DVR directly because i am just using a LAN but as it is not connecting do I have to set up using DNS? VideoViewer software connects and allows me to control the DVR but will not allow me to backup the evnet because for some reason there are no Channel numbers assigned to the recordings. Any suggestions appreciated as to what i am doing wrong. Thanks |

If you're just using the LAN, using the LAN IPs, then DNS hasn't entered into it. I'd suggest you would be best to talk to AVtech's support and solve the LAN problem, since if that doesn't work you'll never get remote access working. |

If your connecting directily to the DVR from your PC you need to use a crossover cable. If your connecting through the LAN then you should be able to go to the machines IP address. Suggest you you run ipconfig first to establish your IP range and chck DVR is on same range. |
