General DNS & Domains Dyn Email Update Clients Dyn Developer

Hello,

I have an internet connection with dynamic IP. In order to access a a specific website they need me to have a static IP address and then to access their website only from that address. Can I obtain a static IP address via the services of DynDNS? And how?

Thank you.

You would have to obtain a static IP address from your ISP. They are the only ones who can sell you a static IP address.

You may want to check and see if this site you have to access can resolve a hostname that is pointed to your Dynamic IP address. If that is the case, you could use our Dynamic DNS service for that. Otherwise, a static IP from your ISP is the only thing that will work.

Yeh my ISP won't allow me to have a static IP without moving to their more expensive business broadband package. Would be good to add a dyndns provided static ip address to the A record of my domain registrar, rather than using a CNAME (a lot of domain registrars don't support cnames).
