General DNS & Domains Dyn Email Update Clients Dyn Developer

Hello, My name is Folk, and I'm having some difficulties configuring my network attatched storage. My network equipment includes a modem-router which has been connected to my NAS and my access point. Each was connected parallelly on two different lan ports.

The trouble was the page that showed up when I browse my ddns address (nastest00.dyndns.org), as well as my dynamic ip address. Instead of my NAS page, the modem configuration page was displayed. I tried fowarding port 21, or even 80, but neither worked.

I would be gratful if support can give me some help. Thank you in advance.

Folk

The page you are getting, could it be the management page for your router? If so you may need to set another port for remote management. Can you reach your NAS on your LAN with a local address? The loopback issue cgonyea describes comes from using the wan address on your LAN. If possible, you can add the WAN address to local network's DNS to point to the LAN address, or just use the LAN address on the NAS's LAN.

Is your NAS set up for FTP and have you specified its IP address on your router config page?, at the moment it sounds as if you have enabled port forwarding on port 80 (HTTP) and the IP address of the router. prob 192.168.1.1 or 1.254, hence you are getting the router management interface.

Set up your NAS drive with a static IP address, usually the opposite end of the subnet to your routers IP address eg, if router is .1, then assign .254 to the NAS.Then in your router page, enable port forwarding to FTP (port 21) and assign it to the IP Address of the NAS.

In your browser, enter your inside global IP address preceded by ftp://..*. In Internet explorer, click on the page tab and "view as FTP site". This is the dynamc address provided to your incoming router interface by your ISP.

SMTP is an email protocol and spi-firewall is what prevents unauthorised port forwarding to occur, disable at your peril. Good luck

Hey man, the answer is easy now, i´d the same prob.

also listen and learn:

You must configure your router, ther must be an option, called smtp-server. In this you type the real adress from your NAS, ah you must deactivat the integrated spi-firewall too.

Then save, reboot, und fertig.

SMTP and FTP are unrelated. Disabling firewalls is never a good idea unless you know exactly what you are doing.

Setup new password on zyxel router. Configure alternate port for management page access of router. Conf alt port on NAS for www connections. In router, fwd that port to your nas. TEST before u reveal URL to the world! Have fun with newly configured NAS. Send mail to bad ass z34 @ hot mail dot com (no spaces) for more advice.
