Hi, I have installed 4 CCTV systems with DVR's.All are connected via a British Telecom 2Wire 2700hgv router with dynamic IP. I have set up 4 addresses via DYNDNS. Port forwarding has been set up. As far as aware these routers do not support DDNS so it has been set up on the DVR's, hastname, password and doname name entered. All systems worked ok till the IP changed, not of the systems updated th IP. I'm new to networking, have I done something wrong? Any help will be appreciated |

Four different locations or one location with four CCTV systems? Do the DVRs provide any kind of status message, event log or something similar, which could tell us something about what might have gone wrong with the DDNS update facility? If not, then I would try reconfiguring the DDNS updater on the DVR. Were you uncertain about any aspects of that configuration when you set it up? If you are unable to make the DVR updater working, your most likely options are to either establish whether the router has a DDNS update facility, or leave a computer running 24/7 and run a software update client on that. Thanks for reply Four different sytsems different locations. There's no provision on DVR for status message, just enter details of host, password and donaim.DVR is a Solidex H.264 Theres no facility on router for DDNS update, apparently BT had this removed on their version. Is it possible the dns updater on the DVR is not compatable?

The configuration of the DDNS feature of your DVRs looks fine. This should well work. If it doesn't, best is to refer to the support of your devices or follow the alternatives VikingTiger has listed. From a technical point of view you could temporarily connect a computer to the network the DVRs belong to, in order to try a manual update via browser, which would be:
- or -
(Replace username, password and yourhostname accordingly.) |

Yes DynDNS is selectable and has been selected. Sorry I don't know how to give you a screenshot, tried to upload an image from manual but site won't allow me to do it because I'm a new user. The option on the DDNS page are DDNS on or off, this is selected to on Server which is a drop down box with several providers, one of which is DynDns, this is selected The Username and Password is set to the one I use to log in to DynDNS. The host name is set to the site donaim ie http://mysite.dyndns.org There is nothing else on the DDNS page Hope this helps |

Thank you for your help. I installed Dyndns updater on a PC at one of the locations. This has successfully updated, so I'll install it on other stes. It appears the DVR DDNS won't work for some reason |
In the DDNS configuration on the DVR, does it not mention the name of the DDNS provider (which would be DynDNS in this case)? I would also expect the DVR's manual to include a note about what providers are supported. If you wish, you could post a screenshot of the DVR configuration screen here. That would enable us to give you a "second opinion" on whether it looks correct or not. |
