General DNS & Domains Dyn Email Update Clients Dyn Developer

I installed a DVR at my house this summer. Have tried repeatedly to get dns running w/o success. Working with manufacturer we have confirmed everything correct on DVR and router (we think). When i check DDNS connection on DVR it indicates correct connection. What do i put in to my internet browser to access device? When i put http://www.fiftynleighton.dyndns.org i get message saying that this address does not exist. Any help would be apreciated as i have resolved myself to believe there is just some small detail i am missing.

Thanks

1 Answer:

You can only use www.fiftynleighton.dyndns.org if you purchased the Dynamic DNS Pro upgrade. Otherwise you can only use the hostname you registered - fiftynleighton.dyndns.org. If you are not using port 80 then you have to specify it - for example http://fiftynleighton.dyndns.org:8080 if you're using 8080.

Unfortunately you've configured it with a LAN IP address - presumably that of the DVR. You need to configure some device to update the hostname with the WAN IP address, and keep it updated (this can be either the router or the DVR).
