Have Netgear router activated with internal ip client set to http://dyndns.org with hostname. Want to get updated WAN ip by using a remote computer. A kind user responded stating that I can do this "by logging into your DynDNS account and checking what IP address has been assigned to your hostname." Problem is that I do not know how to do that [i.e. where to click, etc]. Another item: Originally signed up through dLink but deleted that hostname through dLink. When I go to My Account in Dyndns it says I do not have any hostnames. However, when I try to add one it tells me that that have already used the maximum available. Perhaps it is a time delay thing. Suggestions appreciated. My learning curve on this stuff is too flat. |
You visit the main site http://www.dyndns.com/ and click the black "Sign In" button on the right.
When you get to the beforementioned page you may note that you have already two hostnames defined/configured, which is the maximum for a free account. You can delete them or use them, it's your choice.
Oops, this sounds like a problem with your account. You may delete it and create it from anew. Alternatively contact DynDNS support. We users cannot help with account specific problems. No soap. That is where is states: "No Hostnames Registered" so nothing to delete. Then when I try to Add it states I have already reached the maximum.
