General DNS & Domains Dyn Email Update Clients Dyn Developer

I would like to keep tabs on when my remote router comes online and for how long. The host update log shows when it receives IP address updates. But the logs only show me the last 5 days in my DynDNS Pro account Is there a way to extend the log time to 30 days? Or is there a script or program I can use to automatically capture the logs and store them locally on a Mac (or a pc)? Thanks for your help

You could raise a feature request with DynDNS for longer log retention. Retaining router logs depends a lot on the router.

I was not sure DynDNS would accommodate that, hence the question for alternative options. I appreciate your idea, but hope someone does have a solution for logging in automatically, navigating to the specific page, and then copying/pasting the data into something like an Excel file.

It is possible that someone has done that, but I don't know. It shouldn't be too difficult to develop a program or script to snatch the update log and then interpret and format the results (avoiding duplicates would be an important part of that).

When all that is said, when I had Dynamic DNS Pro and access to the host update log, I could see far longer back than those five days. I think that only applies when you have a large number of updates (which I certainly did not, my IP only changed once or twice a year). Does your IP change several times a day?

Hi, there are not too many entries, 2 currently, and they do cut off after a few days. ì know for sure there were more in the middle of january, and they are gone - (it is a remote appartment I am trying to keep an eye on to see when the internet is being used) But I do not want to have to manually check and track every few days....

I see. Well, it's been a long time since I had access to those logs, so either it has changed since then, or I may not remember it right.

There are several ways to monitor Internet usage on a connection that you have access to, but most of them may introduce some ethical privacy concerns.
