Hi, I have DynDNS (free) service that I have been using for over a year now. and it works great. I have port forwarding for a web service to one of my home PC. now I added more services, with each of them accessible on a different port. so for example my network HDD interface on port 9000, satellite receiver on port 9001, etc... now to the question, is there a way to have a subdomain to my DynDNS service linking to each service, for example: NetHDD.MyAddress.DynDNS.org >>> http://MyAddress.DynDNS.org:9000 Sat.MyAddress.DynDNS.org >>> http://MyAddress.DynDNS.org:9001 Router.MyAddress.DynDNS.org >>> http://MyAddress.DynDNS.org:8080 is it possible on the free account? and if not, what about the pro account, can this be done? I read about the webHop service, but I didn't get how to access it, and what does it cost, is it included in the pro account by defult? any limitations? another question about the custom DNS. I understood that it is a full Domain service with Dynamic IP capabilities like DynDNS. is this correct? if so, can the above be done with it? so I can have == http://NetHDD.MyAddress.com == pointing for port 9000 on my router? Thanks a lot, and sorry if my questions are dumb. I am in no way a network expert. |

WebHop is free and can be used with the free Dynamic DNS, Dynamic DNS Pro or Custom DNS. It does however only work with HTTP, so you can only use it with services that work in a web browser where the URL bar starts with Unfortunately there is no support for named subdomains, you'd have to use completely separate hostnames, or a reverse proxy on your own network, something like Varnish. You'd need to use other hostnames, such as "nethdd-myaddress.dyndns.org" and so on. With Custom DNS, yes it's much more flexible and you can create hostnames as you posted. Just remember the limitation I highlighted in my first paragraph. If you have more questions, please edit your question and we'll do what we can to answer them. Thanks a lot Cry.. the free service is limited, so most probably I will use custom DNS.. I really appreciate your reply.
