General DNS & Domains Dyn Email Update Clients Dyn Developer

My home network is setup with nothing but Airport Extreme's and a Time Capsule from Apple. I've followed the instruction on how to setup a Time Capsule to be able to access it from anywhere using the Custom DNS service.

Everything was working good until I upgraded to latest firmware 7.5.2. Now it seems as though the Airport is not reporting the IP address back to DynDNS.

I just got a new Drobo FS and was wondering if there was a way to setup the Custom DNS service on the Drobo to update my IP address. The Drobo has an internal static IP address, but is obviously behind an Airport Extreme router.

1 Answer:

Custom DNS and Dynamic DNS use the same update mechanism. If your Drobo supports Dynamic DNS hostname updates then it also supports Custom DNS updates.

If one isn't included then I see you can install Perl on these units, which suggests that with some effort you may get ddclient running on them. For help with that I'd direct you to the Drobo Forums.
