-In can access the dvr using our public IP (which is static) and the port, but not with the host name?

-Created a DYNDNS host name and attached it our public IP.
-The ISP is not blocking any ports.
-My router is a Sonicwall TZ190, which supports DYNDNS, plus added the IP address of the dvr as static.
-The dvr also supports DYNDNS and has been set up with a static IP.
-I configured both dvr and router with DYNDNS info. (frisco1.selfip.com w/my dyndns website login)

The router DNS page shows online, but has the following options.
1-Enable this DDNS Profile (yes)
2-Use online settings (yes)
3-Service Type (static)
4-Enable Wildcard (no)
5-Backup MX (no)
5-Automatically se the IP Address to the primary WAN Interface IP Address(no)
6-Let the DDNS provider detect the IP address(yes)
7-Specify IP address manually.(no)

Could any of these effect my outcome. I've tried many combo's.

I can access using the hostname but still need to use the port number. How can I work around not requiring adding the port to the hostname?

1 Answer:

If you have a static IP you don't need an update client, just set the IP to that static IP and purchase the Dynamic DNS Pro service. If you do decide to run an update client you must only run one, running more than one may cause your account to be suspended for abusive updates.

At this point all I can tell you is that port 80 on the IP your hostname resolves to (173.9.142.93) is showing as refused, suggesting that either you or your ISP blocks that port. If you're using another port can you tell us what it is so we can check it ourselves?

Oh, and are you remembering to test remotely? Testing from inside the network often produces false results.

You'll be wanting a WebHop, the documentation linked from the service page should walk you through all you need to do, but if you run into problems edit your question again and provide details of the problems.

Thanks for your direction. I was testing via air card and disabled the routers dnydns profile, plus created a webhop hostname. All is working as planned

Good to hear, to close this question off can you tick the answer that helped you the most please.
