I set up a DYNdns account. I have my Night Owl FS Series system hooked up and the Netview program downloaded on my computer. I do not know where to get the Ip Address that it is saying I need. It says to open up Internet Explorer and enter the IP Address or DDNS address of your DVR. I put in the DDNS address that was on my Night Owl System under Network Option into the Internet Explorer and it is just coming back as a search engine with links to click into. On the Netviewer login it has an
I used this DDNS number of 202.96.128.68 then put the media port at 09000 (Login Failed) So I then tried the 00080. This didn't work. It says to leave the password empty. |

First of all you'll need to use the LAN IP of your Night Owl system (you need to ensure that the Night Owl is set with a fixed IP address on your LAN and the correct netmask and default gateway). Then, when that works, you'll want to - from a remote computer - use the WAN IP of your Internet connection. It looks like you need to forward port If that all works then you've got the port forwarding and configuration correct, you just need to sort out an update client for your DynDNS hostname. After that you'll be able, from a remote computer, to use your DynDNS hostname instead of your WAN IP address. The IP you're using is for I'd recommend you read and work through this guide, which covers port forwarding and testing. If you have problems connecting to your system please edit your question to provide details and we'll try to help you. |

I have a nightowl dvr system . I have spent over 60 hrs in june trying to do the same thing. In the usa. EQUIPMENT android phone , lan, and remote acess, ip provider ..ATT.UVERSE ISSUE cant connect. The tech at NIGHTOWL helped set system, in January 2011.. FIRST STEP.. GO TO http://WWW.JOINME.COM, CLICK JOIN. IT WILL INSTALL A WIDGET, in the prompts, ' it will ask a series of questions...this is a free service btw. only there to click join, a box will pop up with a 9 digit number at the top of your screen. then ..get on phone with your internet provider..probably be on hold ahwile.. then while your waiting ..go to the next steps. Steps go to http://www.whatsmyip.com, or a free search result. it will post your address of your gateway which controls the lan,
` a mailbox ..example, 192.16.11.13, 192.16.11.14, etc NONE OF YOUR DEVICES WILL HAVE SAME ADDRESS.. ACALL TO YOUR INTERNET PROVIDER WILL DO THIS WITH YOU..WRITE IT DOWN!!!! LOCATE YOUR IP ROUTER DEVICE ..EXAMPLE ATT ROUTER, ADDRESS WILL BE 99.16.1.88, ASK YOUR IP WHAT THE ADDRESS IS. OR 255.255. ETC.
note..mostly nightowl tech support. one person actually.. THE ISSUE WITH NIGHTOWL IS , THEY DONT WANT TO DEAL WITH YOUR ROUTER SETTINGS..THAT WAY THEY DONT MESS UP.. THEY SAY WE DONT SUPPORT YOUR ROUTER ISSUES ETC.. IF YOURE AT THAT PART OF THE CONVO..THEN .. GIVE UP.. CALL YOUR IP PROVIDER AND WORK ON THE ROUTER ISSUES FOR PORT FWD.
the only thing you need to do is type in the port you want to ck.. your case..port 9000 if it says open yippee youre done..WITH THAT PORT.., you will need 2 ports. .. nightowl says 3, forget that.. youre most likely only allowed 2. OH.. ATT OLD UVERSE ROUTERS SUCK!!..theyre silver and huge..see Ip providers ping your router and send updates..sometime they mess up everyones settings... I called att, had a tech sent out.. she installed a new router..suggested i buy a router from a store..it will work with your internet firewire..then you can do much more.. but .. im poor and i pay for the ATT equip.etc...oh.. ATT will try to charge u 140.00, but a real technician will explain to ATT that its aequipment not you..so should be no charge. TMI>?.. you have no idea how bad i want that 60 hr back!! I figure I will help someone else then ..my suffering was worth it. CALL NIGHTOWL FOR YOUR DVR YOUR IP CANT HELP THERE.. go to your dvr that is hooked to the internet in the back. SUGGESTION..A PLUG LINK DEVICE IS AVAIL FROM ATT, IT ALLOWS YOU TO HAVE A HARDWIRE LINE AT ANY OUTLET...ON THAT WIRING CIRCUIT..WINK..) BUT.. TRY TO HAVE YOUR DVR NEXT TO YOUR COMPUTER..NOT A WIRELESS LAPTOP..AS YOU NEED TO BE JACKED INTO THE NETWORK. SO JOINME WILL WORK ..ETC.. Go to your DVr , the tech will tell you what to change the setting to.. then they will tell you to assign a address for the dvr. like your home system has .45, the dvr may be .55 etc. then they will have you assign an additional port for the dvr.. I WOULD HAVE THIS PORT ASSIGNMENT BEFORE CALLIN ATT ACTUALLY..SORRY... my ATT tech came to my home.. and internally set my NEW router to fwd port 9000, that s the lan port, and the PRIVATE, port from nightowl.. in your router there is custom settings. i.e. firewall .. select the dvr address once you get it to show up on your lan. it should post its address along with your computer etc.. go to user created programs.. this is where you set up the port fwd.. i.e nightowl is the file name allowed to access the dvr. ATT helped me on the phone to set these values, for port 9000, and my secret port. aka dvr media port.. RECAP SO FAR. DVR ON , A CAMERA BNC HOOKED UP, NEXT TO THE HOME COMPUTER IN THE SAME ROOM AS YOUR ROUTER. YOU CAN MOVE THE DVR AND HIDE WIRES LATER..UNLESS YOU LIKE TO EXERCISE RUNNING UP AN DOWN 20 STAIRS TO THE BASEMENT. K? K! YOU HAVE INTERNET BILL PAID. LOL.. YOUR LOGGED ONTO JOIN ME, ON THE PHONE W YOUR INTERNET PROVIDER. YOUR GETTING YOUR STEPS WRITTEN DOWN AS YOU GO.. IP ADDRESSES, DVR SETTINGS, AN PORT CK TOOL WEBSITE OPEN. YOUR IP WALKS YOU THRU THE STEPS TO SET CUSTOM PORT RULES. IF YOU HAVE THE SILVER MONSTER GATEWAY BOX, GET A NEW ONE. ONCE YOU VERIFY , THERE ARE 2 PORTS 9000 AND SECRET PORT ARE OPEN.. AT YOU GOT SIGNAL, YOU WILL TYPE IN 9000, CLICK SCAN..IT WILL SAY HOPEFULLY ,..OPEN..YIPPEE!, THEN SAY 1234, OPEN? WAAAHOOOO, YOURE SET. NOW. YOU COULD CALL NIGHTOWL AND THEY WILL SAY , ITS OPEN, PORT 9000 AND 1234, BUT THEY MAY NOT HAVE ACCESS..AN TRY TO TELL YOU TO OPEN ANOTHER PORT.. BLAH BLAH.. YOU DONT NEED 3. I SPENT OVER 15 HR TRYING TO DO 3.. MAYBE THE ATT TECH COULDVE.. BUT SHE DID GET 2 , AN THATS ALL I NEEDED FOR 6 MONTHS BEFORE EVRYTHING CRASHED..I.E NO ANDROID , NO NETWIEWERE ETC.. IMO , NIGHTOWL EQUIPMENT IS OVER PRICED, AND THE 16 LED NIGHTVISION IN ANY CAMERA IS BASIC AND MEIIOCRE..YET.. IT WAS CHEAP. WHERE ARE WE NOW.. OH YAH.. ANDROID.. ask nicely for NIGHTOWL TO SEND YOU A LINK WITH INSTRUCTIONS TO HOW TO SET UP YOUR SUPPORTED PHONE.ANDROID , BLACKBERRY, OR WINDOWS BASED.. THE NIGHTOWL CAMERAS WORK WELL WILL A PROGRAM FROM ANDROID MARKET..CALLED IPCAMERALITE. ITS FREE.. WHEN YOU PUT IN YOUR CAMEREA INFO.. HTTP STUFF.. TYPE IN THE INFO AN IT SHOULD WORK. i HAD TO USE MY SECRET MEDIA PORT, IE 1234 , PORT 9000 WOULDNT WORK. I ALSO PUT , 1234:/1, THEN 1234:/2.. FOR EACH CAMEREA.. IP CAMEREA LITE IS AWSOME.. IT SAVES THE HTTP STUFF FOR EACH NEW CAMERA ETC... I HOPE MY TYPING IS READABLE..I GUESS THE CAPS IS DUE TO MY FRUSTRATION TO TRY AND HELP ANYONE NOT SUFFER LIKE I HAVE... SUN UP TO SUN UP IVE WORKED...I hope i atleast got you closer than you were. i was ready to toss my 500 system in the trash.. but.. tada.. this 46 yr old housewife. got it done... GIT ER DONE LOL... ok.. so another day.. wonder what will happen now.. prolly after typing all this..it will say internal error lol.. if not.. there you go.. PEACE OUT!! Please don't use all capitals. Please also keep answers useful and short - rants don't belong here.
