i can view locally on the network perfect. port i'm using on the dvr is 80, i set up static ip address on the dvr. i port forwarded port 80 on my linksys router for the ip address i gave the dvr. when i try to view it remotely, it's like the page just times out and won't connect.

it justs seems like i'm overlooking something small. thanks

It sounds like your ISP may be blocking port 80 inbound - not uncommon. This post covers things to do, but in short you'll need to try a different port (say, 11080) and see if that works. If it does then you may want to use a WebHop to avoid having to remember the port number.

Try to disable firewall setting in your router.

Most SOHO routers are also NAT devices. Even if it is possible, simply disabling the firewall in the router won't do anything.
