My router isn't updating properly. Here are the settings in the D-Link

Using built in Dynamic DNS option in the D-Link DIR-614 Wireless N router. Router Firmware: 3.01 Hardware Version : C1 Option in Router: TOOLS, DYNAMIC DNS.

Enabled Option "Enable Dynamic DNS" Server Address: http://dyndns.com(free) Host Name: http://myhostname.dyndns.org Username or key: myusername Password or key: mypassword Timeout: 240 hours Status: Disconnected

Everytime I save the settings , It shows "Disconnected". It did connect before, but for some reason when my IP changed , it did not update my IP on dyndns and still shows "Disconnected."

Note that I am using http://MYHOSTNAME.DYNDNS.ORG ( not .com)

There appears to be a problem since if I manually update my IP on the http://DYNDNS.COM site from my account, then click "Save" in my router, it shows "Connected."

Problem is, once my IP changes again, it shows "disconnected" and never attempts to connect and update the IP again

I have tried D-LINKS service (which is really DynDns), and it appears to do the same.

I've experience the same problem. After a little googleing and some dyndns forum reading I came up with no solution. So I've tried some quick fixes: - removing the dyndns settings - reset the internet connection - reboot the router (by the way, I have a DLINK DIR 615) The last one did the trick. So, quick fix: Reset the router by entering the System page in the Tools section of the management web application and pressing the Reboot device button.

Is it like this emulator? According to your description you did it right. So check the status of your host, and if it looks normal, it seems to be a problem with your router. So refer to the D-Link Support site or forum.
Also, it doesn't matter what hostname and DynDNS domain you use, as long as you enter this exactly into the update page, ideally all lower-case.

Yes. it is exactly like the link you included. Yes, something is flakey with the router. DynDNS 4.15 Software updater works fine, but computer is not always on, so updating the DNS via D-Link router is critical.

Then you need to replace the router with one that works.

So I always step with most of the D-link.

Siempre me paso eso con la mayoria de los d-link, debe ser un problema del Firmware el cual nunca corrigieron.

Saludos!!

It is most probably the 'timeout' period. It seems to be currently set to 240 hours on your router, which means that the router will update the DNS registry every 10 days. Try setting it to lower value (the lowest is 1 hour). Since the actual DNS registry update operation is pretty fast, the normal state of this screen is: 'Disconnected'.

No, no, NO, NO, NO, NO! Reducing the value will result in being blocked for abusive updates if anybody is foolish enough to do as you suggest.
