I am using Linksys E2000 router. I have entered the DynDns username and password in the DDNS option under the SETUP tab of router admin page. After entering Username and Password, first time UPDATE works propoerly but if clicked again on the UPDATE button, message appears as "Authorization fails (username or passwords)". Due to this, whenever the IP changes, update is not happening automatically. Please help me resolve this issue. |

Start by checking if a more recent firmware is available. If it isn't then report it to Linksys, since it is their firmware that has the problem. If Linksys can't resolve the problem you'll have to use something else to update the hostname, possibly including a software client. |

I had the same problem on both the E2000, and E3000. "Authentication failure Username or Password" DynDNS User Name login works with both email address and user name. I was using the email address not the user name. In the Lynksys configuration page: I changed the User name: from the email address to the actual user name that fixed the problem. I only entered save setting not update the message come up authentication successful. Even I updated the firmware that had nothing to do with it. hope this helps |

I have the same problem and I think I figured out what's causing it, however, I don't know of a way to fix it. The problem is comming from the password being incorrect. You put in the right password, but after the page refreshes (via update, or save settings), it puts it's own password into the field and the next time the IP changes, it's unable to log in because it has the wrong password saved. If anyone knows of a way to fix this problem, let us know. Thanx PS. Same problem with every password field on the router. Sounds like a browser problem in your case, which may not be the same problem as Pathfinder is reporting.

Did you click the update button although your public IP address hasn't changed in between? Sure, this will cause the error code "nochg" coming back from DynDNS, and your router may misinterpret the error code as "Authorization fails (username or passwords)". You normally should not need to click the update botton ever again after first setup, else you run anyway into the risk of getting your hostname blocked due to abusive updates. Beside this, follow the advices given by Cry Havok. |
