General DNS & Domains Dyn Email Update Clients Dyn Developer

The windows client allows the user to select any host in the list. This can be very problematic. How can I lock it down to restrict only a specific hostname update?

You can't. Even if you don't use the official client and use one of the other compatible clients there's nothing stopping the client from being configured with one of the other hostnames in the account.

You'd have to purchase your own domain and upgrade to Dynect SMB before you could lock down who can update which hostname.

Not sure why this would be problematic. What do you want to achieve? I can only assume you're trying to use the Update Client for something it is not supposed to be used for.

You may consider to use another device in your network, e.g. your router, to perform the DDNS updates. Some other software clients run hidden and don't show a host name list to select from, e.g. Marc's Updater.
